As an EU-representative according to Art. 27 GDPR I am no EU-official but a commercial organized consultant who works on GDPR- requirements for companies from outside EU. They need that if they process personal data of EU citizens.
According to Art. 27 GDPR also UK companies will have to implement an EU representative to process personal data of EU citizens after UK left the EU. This is the case because UK will be a „third party country“ in the view of GDPR after BREXIT.
